Are you feeling this urge to simplify stuff?

Wouldn't it be freeing to focus on just one thing?

Hey Reader

Is it just me or do you feel this too?

The urge to simplify. To bring your focus back to just doing one thing?

To be completely honest with you all - some days it feels as though my head is going to pop with how much the world seems to demand my attention! 🤯

And when I feel like this - I ALWAYS come back to watercolours - ALWAYS!

It's part of my toolkit. Part of my grounding practice I guess. Because...
When you pick up the brush and start to drop the colour on the paper - there is only one focus...It's right there in front of you.

Just one thing to do...Create

Not ten things.
No pressure to be multitasking.
No juggling five thoughts or worries at the same time

Just one quiet, focused thing. It never fails to calm my mind, calm my body and bring me back to what REALLY matters.

Watercolour has this beautiful way of bringing you back into the present moment without even trying. Your mind stops racing ahead, stops worrying about everything happening out there, and gently settles into what’s happening right in front of you.

Gentle shifts and blends of colour
Magic in the movement
The permission to let go

No pressure to make something perfect.
Just the quiet focus and permission to disconnect

It's why so many people fall in love with watercolour once they start. Not because they’re trying to become “great artists”… but because painting gives them a little pocket of simplicity in a very busy world.

A small space where the noise fades and your mind can finally rest for a while.

So if life has felt a bit full up lately. A bit too much!
A bit scattered and out of control...

Put all of those plates down a second and come and paint.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing I know I can do for my sanity and mental health is...

Choose one gentle thing…
…and give it your full attention.

Til next time,
Sue 🎨💛
