Turning painting into a meditation

Turning painting into a meditation...

video preview

Hey Reader

Have you ever started painting… and then suddenly realised an hour has flown by and you're thinking...

“Where the hell did that time go?” That, my friend, is flow state.

Painting can become a kind of meditation. Not sitting cross-legged with your eyes closed, but the kind where your brain finally stops jumping around.

Your attention has somewhere to go - the brush, the water, the colour, the next little mark.

And suddenly, instead of thinking about 47 million things at once, there’s just one thing to focus on....And breathe. 🧘

Give it a try...

Put your phone away - in a cupboard. Get your paints out.
Choose one little thing to paint and give yourself 20 minutes.

Don’t worry about making something good. Just notice the water. The brush. The colour. The movement.

When your mind wanders, come back to the painting.
That’s it.

Because, sometimes we don’t need another podcast, productivity hack or thing to learn. Jeez our brains are full enough as it is!!

Sometimes we just need to stop consuming and start creating.

And this is exactly why I’ve created Creative Resets inside The Joyful Watercolour Collective.

I’ve just added a video where we paint a simple, repetitive floral pattern together - little flowers and leaves, one after another. There’s no pressure to create a masterpiece. No complicated technique to master.

Just paint, repeat, breathe… and let yourself disconnect for a while.
The painting isn’t always the point.

Sometimes the painting is simply the place you need to go to get back to your inner core and hear 'YOU' again.

And that’s what I want The Joyful Watercolour Collective to be - a calm and joyful, collective space to come back to - again and again. Somewhere simple, and safe to learn, experiment and switch off when the world feels a bit too loud.

The doors are opening this week. 🎨💛
More on that very soon…

For now, give yourself 20 minutes. Get your paints out. Choose one little thing. And see where it takes you.

Til next time,

Sue 🎨💛

P.S.
If you're booked on to my Autumn Floral Workshop this coming weekend - I can't wait to spend the day with you. See you soon.

Joyful Collective - Doors Open for Founding Members Hey ReaderCan I ask you something? When did you last sit down and paint just for the shear joy of it?Not because you wanted to learn a new technique or get better. Not because you needed to make something for someone. Not because you thought you should be doing something productive.Just because you wanted to paint to feel a little more calm & centered. It’s surprisingly easy for the things we love doing to get pushed to the bottom of the list,...
