The guilt no one talks about when you paint

Why does painting feel… a little bit guilty?

Hey Reader

I want to talk about something that doesn’t get said enough…

How guilty we may feel when we paint...

Not the fear. Not the judgement.
The guilt.

I still get it...I still have that little nagging voice that says "Shouldn't you be doing some 'real' work?

Because somewhere along the way, we were taught that things that feel this joyous can’t possibly be “real work”… or even a good use of time.

We've been taught that 'proper work' means we have to be stressed, or ticking something off a list! It's total madness isn't it?

Painting might not look productive from the outside.
But on the inside?

It's the most soul healing, restorative, meaningful work that there is!

It’s slowing your thoughts down.
It's healping ease anxiety
It’s helping you process, reset and breathe.

And honestly… when was the last time you gave yourself space to do something that simply makes you feel JOYFUL?

So, maybe it's just a real slight shift in the question we ask ourselves...Instead of...“Is this productive?”

Maybe ask...“Is this supportive?”

So if that little voice pops up this week - the one that tells you you should be doing something else…

Permission granted: GO PAINT

Til next time…
