What if you’re not bad at painting… you’re just new?

You absolutely can paint these...

Hey Reader

Since holding my workshop in March I’ve had lots of messages saying…

“I’d love to come along, but I just can’t paint”
Hearing this both breaks my heart and challenges me at the same time..

Why? Well…I believe each and every one of us can paint - and paint well.
Just hear me out…what if...

You’re not bad at painting. You’re just new to it.

I know, madness hey?

Somewhere along the line, someone may have told you…”You just can’t draw”, “you’re no good at ART”. “Stick to science”…Maybe a parent, a teacher or a sibling…

Many of us decided that if we’re not instantly good at something, it must mean we’re just… not meant for it.

Imagine if we applied that logic to walking.
“Well… tried that. Fell over. Clearly not for me.”

Painting is no different.
Those wobbly brushstrokes?
That muddy colour?
That “what on earth is that meant to be?” moment?

That’s not failure.
That’s the beginning.
And honestly, it’s where the magic lives.

So if you’ve been telling yourself you’re “no good” at painting… maybe just swap that thought for:

“I’m just new at this.” Feels a bit lighter already, doesn’t it?

Til next time… go paint.
